On Monday, April 28, 2008, Hunterdon County Communications received a report of a working car fire on Route 517 near Route 512. Firebox 2432 was struck, dispatching the Fairmount Fire Company and Oldwick Fire Department. Chief Dave Steinel and the Tewksbury Township Police arrived and confirmed a fully involved car fire. The driver of the Ford Taurus escaped the vehicle and was uninjured. Crews from Engine 34-61 arrived and extinguished the fire with a C.A.F.S. line. Crews from Engine 34-62 and Oldwick Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter and assisted the fire attack crew. It required only 275 gallons of water and 1 gallon of foam to extinguish the fire and perform overhaul. Engine 34-61 remained on scene to assist the police department and wrecker operator.
