The Fairmount Fire Company recently took delivery of a new 2006 Ford Expedition Incident Command Vehicle. The Command Vehicle is used by the Chief, or officer, to respond directly to scenes and to communicate instructions to incoming apparatus and coordinate the incident. The vehicle is equipped with with numerous radios, tools, pre-plans, and a workspace for the officer to coordinate the incident.
The unit is equipped with a high power VHF High Band radio and VHF Low Band radio. It is also equipped with 2 medium power VHF High Band radios, and a VHF Low Band radio for scene coordination. Additionally, it includes a UHF radio for the Morris County Interoperable Trunked Radio System, and UHF conventional. The numerous radios allow for smooth communication between responding mutual aid agencies that use different bands, as well as the ability to monitor an entire fireground effectively. The unit is equipped with a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and spare bottle, for use in hazardous environments. The lower right compartment houses the various pre-plans for structures within Washington & Tewksbury Townships. The truck carries other equipment such as a Forcible Entry tools, Water Extinguisher, Medical Kit, Oxygen, Automated External Defibrillator(AED), Portable Radios, Lights, and Accountability supplies.
